Shogun 2: Total War is a turn–based strategy game that is a remake of the first game in the series. The game is dedicated to the wars for power between Japanese feudal lords in the Middle Ages.

The Era of the Warring Provinces

The game covers a historical period called Sengoku, which lasted a century and a half. When one dynasty loses control of the country, the other provincial rulers try to put themselves in a leading position. Since the state is small, moreover, an island, there is no escape from internecine wars. Therefore, the player finds himself on the global map, chooses one of the nine factions, and without much preface gets into a whirlwind of power struggle. Now he is a daimyo – a military feudal lord, the elite of the samurai class. His main goal is to bring his clan to power and become the shogun of all Japan. To do this, you need to capture the required number of provinces and the city of Kyoto.

The ruler of the faction will have a hard time at first: there is not enough money, the army is small, no one knows him, and therefore does not want to trade and make alliances. You will have to take care of the army right away, because you need to defend and attack many times. Samurai react very sharply to any violation of their code of honor, and indeed to any action they do not like. So it's worth replenishing the treasury by plundering a conquered city or being seduced by someone's gold mine - a break in relations and a note of protest are guaranteed. It is worth fighting off one unfriendly neighbor, another may arrive instead, and there is nowhere to retreat from the island. In this case, diplomacy is used. The conclusion of unions, inter–dynastic marriages and the exchange of children are effective ways to establish relationships. And the violator of promises will become the culprit of the death of his heir, whom he sent to a neighbor.

The game offers to participate in interesting land and sea battles, as well as castle sieges. You can increase the chances of winning even before the start of the battle with the help of agents. Ninjas can commit sabotage, geisha seduce or kill enemy generals, shinsengumi manipulate the morality of soldiers, luring them to their side. When it came to combat, you need to use generals.
