N.E.R.O: Nothing Ever Remains Obscure (2016) PC
N.E.R.O: Nothing Ever Remains Obscure is an unusual first—person adventure game that takes place in the head of a little boy.
This is the debut production of the Italian studio Storm in a Teacup.
Description
You play as an unknown character wrapped in a cloak. The hero lands on the dark shores of a small fishing village, the surroundings of which are filled with stars, plants and creatures that glow with an eerie surreal light. As the player explores the exotic landscape, a dialogue between mother and child opens up to you in parallel. The short lines speak of hope, anxiety and despair. And you begin to realize that this is a sad story about a man who is struggling to cope with a mysterious illness.
Gameplay
The uniqueness of the name comes from the ubiquitous bioluminescence — dark landscapes are illuminated by bright phosphorous objects that serve as a kind of pointers. Mechanically, N.E.R.O resembles a series of Myst games. The gameplay focuses on exploring and solving puzzles that use different aspects of light and time. As you progress, the purpose of the main character's adventure gradually unfolds, and depending on your choice, you reach one of several alternative endings of the story.
Also among the key features of N.E.R.O.: Nothing Ever Remains Obscure, the following points can be highlighted:
- great artistic graphics are directly related to the plot and mechanics of the game;
- some of the puzzles are mandatory — to move forward, you have to solve them;
- an atmospheric soundtrack in which you can hear the legendary Icelandic band Sigur Rós;
- The creators drew inspiration from the Final Fantasy series, the film Avatar by James Cameron and Japanese productions created by the anima
