Survival is a relatively hardcore video game genre in which the player will have to face wildlife or other danger one–on-one, as well as try to survive with all his might.
This genre is divided into several separate types: survival with sandbox elements, survival horror, rpg, strategy and some other types. Regardless of the subgenre, survival has one feature — the need to monitor the health, thirst, hunger and general physical condition of the character.
In sandboxes, players are given complete freedom of action and extensive opportunities. In order to survive in such games, you have to build your own house or shelter, create a variety of items and hunt a variety of animals or monsters.
Survival horror genre games are designed to intimidate you in every possible way. In most of these projects, you will not only have to look for useful items or food, but also hide from some monster (or even several monsters).
Role-playing games may also contain some elements inherent in survival. Although in most cases this will not be expressed too strongly. In strategies, you will have to monitor the life of an entire village or another settlement, send people hunting, build houses and engage in other everyday life.
