The Stellaris strategy came out at the moment between Uncharted 4 and Doom, which is why it lacked the attention of the profile press for a long time. But somehow quietly and imperceptibly, the game has become the main sci-fi strategy of recent years, has sold a million copies and still feels great due to the new DLC.

Space is waiting for us

Stellaris begins as a kind of "Civilization in Space". We choose a race, get a small squad and begin to rebuild our own planet with an orbit. Gradually, however, you realize that the game is far from Civilization: you are not limited in moves and space, you think on a completely different scale, and you cannot feel the historical experience of your own wards.

Instead, Stellaris conveys the wow effect of novelty much more clearly - the unknown begins to happen in the local space from the very beginning. Then some monstrous armada will fly near your territory, not noticing the modest neutral possessions, then space pirates will stick to you, then your scouts will find some new form of life on the planet at all, after which you will have to decide what to do with it. The choice of situations is also striking – Paradox interactive does not care much about political correctness, because weak races here can be used for donation and experiments at all.

The earth in the porthole

Over time, Stellaris turns into a full-fledged space theater of operations. Your scientists are discovering phenomenal technologies, your armadas are conquering planet after planet, and engineers are rebuilding giant defensive structures right in space. One thing remains unchanged – a constant feeling of something unknown. So, for example, quite by chance, scientists can open a portal to the warp, from where the most powerful intergalactic monsters will arrive, capable of destroying not only you, but in general all the players in the party. Such a situation can radically change the entire political situation, uniting players against one common enemy.

For almost a year and a half of active development, Stellaris has reached a full-fledged Galaxy Edition, which includes:

1. The original digital soundtrack.
2. Digital collector's book.
3. The story of Infinite Frontiers from the screenwriter of the game.
4. Posters and wallpapers with captions.

The space battles themselves turned out to be excellent, in which we are one of the designers of our warships. The player is subject to "hang" equipment on the ship, as they say, to taste. You can stuff some of the ships with armor and shields, letting them go ahead as "tanks", you can build an armada of fast and maneuverable fighters or vice versa – fight huge and slow cruisers. The important thing is that there is a counterweight for each gun here, so it is quite real that a whole armada of your ships will break against a dozen enemy ships simply because your cartridges do
