The Witcher 1 is a computer video game in the RPG genre with a third–person view, the plot of which is based on a series of popular books by A. Sapkovsky about the adventures of the monster hunter – the witcher Geralt of Rivia.

Plot

The plot of the video game is based on the popular series of books about the witcher, but the events of the first part unfold after the literary finale. Geralt recovers from a severe injury and remembers almost nothing from his past life.

Fortunately, his comrades–in-arms, the witchers, turn out to be nearby and take the wounded Geralt to his fortress in the mountains. There he learns the truth about what happened. Meanwhile, unknown people attack the fortress and kill several witchers.

The heroes learn that a certain group of killers, called Salamanders, is behind the attack. In search of revenge, the witcher realizes that people from his past are behind the attack.

Gameplay

Witcher 1 cannot be called far from an ideal game in terms of gameplay – the combat system does not look convenient enough, as it provides several types of racks.

Among the key gameplay features , it is necessary to highlight:

• the presence of a role-playing system that provides for pumping the character;
• the main character can fight in battle with two swords – steel for killing people, and silver for killing monsters;
• in battle, the protagonist can use simple magic – witcher signs (igni, aard, Quen, Irden, Axius);
• Geralt has extensive knowledge in alchemy – he can prepare elixirs and potions that make him stronger and faster, help heal wounds quickly;
• availability of well-designed mini-games;
