The Witcher (2007) PC

The Witcher is a computer video game in the RPG and action genre, which takes place in fantasy medieval Europe, and therefore elves, monsters and magic live here.

A little-known Polish company called CD Project RED was working on the development of the game at that time.

The release of the first part of the legendary series took place in 2007 exclusively for personal computers.

Plot

Geralt of Rivia is a professional killer of monsters, vampires, ghosts and other evil spirits. As a child, he was exposed to mutations and the effects of magic, which turned him into an ideal killing machine.

The story begins from the moment when the main character comes to his senses and realizes that he does not remember anything. Fortunately, the witcher turns out to be not far from the castle where he was created, and therefore his colleagues in the workshop find him and gradually return to his former life.

In the course of the passage, you must help Geralt remember his past, as well as decide the fate of many interesting characters and even the whole kingdom.  

Gameplay

For a young Polish studio, this video game was the first serious project, and therefore it is characterized by the presence of both minuses and pluses – the latter, fortunately, overlap everything. The Witcher 's gameplay differs in the following features:

• open virtual world;
• a unique combat system for its time, which combines not only the use of cold weapons, but also combat magic, as well as potions and bombs;
• the huge role of dialogues in the narrative;
• Geralt's decisions and actions affect the fate of the characters and the whole world;
• interesting hero leveling system;
• there is no clear division into good and evil in the plot.
