Duty Calls: The Calm Before The Storm (2011) PC
Duty Calls: The Calm Before The Storm is a video game developed by Other Ocaen Interactive for PC and released in February 2011.
Plot
The player assumes the role of an anonymous American soldier tasked with obtaining a "nuclear missile bomb" from bad guys with a Russian accent. The game is a kind of parody of Call of Duty. The entire gameplay lasts about five minutes, and at this time the videos openly mock the narrative structure of Call of Duty of the Modern Warfare era. As an example, at some point the game is interrupted by an enemy paratrooper, when he descends from the sky, he says: "I'm a parachutist because this is a real-life scenario.
You can't shoot me because it's a video clip." But it can be easily killed at the end of the video. The player is also tasked with collecting items, even those that don't make sense for the game. When the user reaches the base of the villain, a special scene begins in which the villain agrees to return the nuclear missile bomb and "cries tears" at the realization that "the USA dominates".
Gameplay
Duty Calls is a first–person shooter with a basic control system. The player has buttons for shooting, reloading, jumping and a context-sensitive action button. The "game" consists of one linear level in which the player can shoot at enemies that appear, although no one prevents you from just passing by the enemy.
Only specific enemies are scripted to attack the player, and even then they will stop before the hero dies. In these cases, when the player deals damage, the edges of the screen are covered with the effect of "strawberry jam", and the director rudely declares: "Oh, damn the screen!". Features of the game:
- The whole gameplay is really interesting. It contains various "jokes" of games of a typical genre.
- The game will take you a small amount of time, during which you will have time to watch high-quality videos and have time to shoot at
