S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl [v.1.0004] (2007) PC

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl is a computer video game in the genre of action, shooter and RPG with a first–person view, which is the first part of the eponymous series, so popular among CIS gamers.

A Ukrainian studio called GSC Game World worked on the creation of the game, which released it in quite distant 2007 exclusively on personal computers.

Plot

After the explosion of the fourth reactor at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, a so-called Zone was formed on a fairly large territory, including the city of Pripyat.

This territory has been fenced off by the authorities due to the fact that due to the powerful effects of radiation, anomalies have arisen that contradict the laws of nature and carry a huge danger to humans. Radiation also caused serious mutations of animals and even affected the human mind, turning it into a kind of zombie.  

You are an adventurer who, for unknown reasons, found himself in the Zone and does not remember his name and past. The task is to find out your own origin and the nature of the Zone.

Gameplay

The following features are characteristic of the Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl gameplay:

• a conditionally open virtual world where you can travel freely;
• huge freedom of action and non-linear narration;
• realistic behavior of enemies – from bandit groups to mutants of all possible stripes;
• a large number of equipment, firearms, grenades, food and medicines;
• the ability to conduct dialogues in order to complete quests and extract valuable information.
