Aliens: Colonial Marines is a game based on the Alien universe, which was released after a long development by Gearbox Software studio. Its release was announced back in 2008, but fans were able to evaluate the result of the company's work only at the beginning of 2013. The creators of the first-person shooter offer to plunge back into the atmosphere of horror and uncertainty characteristic of a series of films about dangerous space creatures. 

In Aliens: Colonial Marines, the player acts as Corporal Winter, leading a detachment of colonial paratroopers. Together with the team, he goes to explore the Sulaco station in order to understand the events that took place on it. On the ship, the heroes encounter xenomorphs, whose attacks will have to be repelled throughout the game. The squad will have both classic weapons and brand new equipment at their disposal.

The developers positioned their creation as a continuation of "Aliens" — the second part of a large-scale epic about space monsters. However, the events taking place in the game, in many ways, did not fit in with the action of the film. Released after DLS partially closed the plot holes. In "Interrupted Stasis", the player is invited to go through 4 episodes on behalf of different characters, the events of which explain the connection between the game and the movie. Numerous patches have fixed bugs in the graphics and added new textures. And some additions have diversified the gameplay, making a number of significant changes.

Gameplay Features

The developers offer two ways to complete the game: alone or team. In multiplayer mode, participants can engage in battle with each other by choosing the side of paratroopers or xenomorphs. Aliens: Colonial Marines with all the additions includes several large-scale maps for online play. Some locations are even taken from the first three parts of films about space creatures.

The Gearbox Software team has also provided a system of achievements. As the storyline progresses, the player must complete several special tasks, as well as find personal items and weapons of the Marines. Additional points are awarded for each completed mini-quest.

Earned points can be spent on improving equipment. Moreover, the developers abandoned the usual finding of equipment. Access to new weapons (there are more than ten types of rifles and grenades in the game) opens as you complete various missions. Advanced equipment is obtained by improving the existing one.
