Serious Sam is one of the most popular shooter series in the world that tells about the adventures of Serious Sam fighting aliens. A Croatian company called Croteam is engaged in the creation of the line.

The key features for the series are the following:

• a huge selection of various cold and firearms that the player can carry with him in unlimited quantities;
• Sam always has to fight off whole hordes of opponents, and therefore the main character is designed much stronger than the rest of the characters;
• the presence of sometimes absurd humor, which permeates all tasks.

Serious Sam: The First Encounter

The first episode of the famous shooter, which is about the beginning of the alien invasion of Earth. Traces of an alien civilization were found in Egypt, which allowed the development of technologies on the planet to an incredible level, which led to space travel and colonization of many planets throughout the galaxy. And then humanity meets with representatives of the ancient race, who begin to crowd people on all fronts and invade their home planet. In 2009, a reissue was released, which was called Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter.

Serious Sam: The Second Encounter

The second episode is not much different from the previous one. The exception is a slightly expanded arsenal – weapons such as a sniper rifle, a flamethrower and a chainsaw have been added. In addition, the player can use special bonuses, such as temporary invulnerability or increased damage.

The action unfolds immediately after the end of the first episode. In 2010, again, a reissue of Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter was released, which gave the episode a new graphics.

Serious Sam II

Sam realizes that the aliens can only be stopped by destroying their leader, the Mental. However, he is immortal and no weapon can kill him. Sam manages to find out that a certain artifact called the Medallion is able to make the villain vulnerable. Then the main character goes on a journey across the galaxy to collect the parts of the Medallion and defeat destroy the Mental.

Serious Sam: Double D

This part is seriously different from the previous games in the series – this is a classic 2D sidescroller, where the player looks at everything happening from the side. The game is now divided into levels, where there are many bonuses, such as ammunition, first aid kits and weapons. In the story, Sam returns from his space journey back to Earth. The hero believes that he has killed a Mental, but in fact he will have to face his evil plans to take over the planet once again.

Serious Sam: The Random Encounter

The developers have completely changed the approach to the series – the game has grown into an RPG. Now the game world is divided into a large global map, along which Sam shuffles, looks for bonuses and takes tasks and a tactical battlefield. When a player meets an opponent, the game will switch to tactical mode, which can be paused in order to give instructions to the main character and teammates. According to the plot, this game does not move the series forward, but is only an offshoot from the main story.   

Serious Sam 3: BFE

This part is the background of the first episode. Events unfold at the moment of the alien attack on Earth and humanity is defeated.

Sam learns that people have the only chance of salvation – this is an artifact that can help humanity return to the past, where it would never have attracted the attention of aliens. The only problem is that no one knows how to launch the artifact
