Painkiller: NecroGenesys [1.3.2] (2016) PC

At first glance, Painkiller: NecroGenesys does not promise anything outstanding. This is a regular first-person shooter developed by the Dreamcatcher team, which had previously been noted only by the mediocre (to put it mildly) Gore shooter. Before the release, all that was known about the game was a couple of screenshots with skeletons that are armed with shotguns. Very modest for a really worthwhile project.

But as soon as the game process begins, it is immediately clear that everything that happened before the appearance of this project in the shooter genre was absolutely wrong. This project combines all the best from its predecessors, including the legendary DOOM, and wrapped it in a tight mix of blood, body parts of various monsters, great humor and thoughtful level architecture. Also, unimaginable means of destroying monsters work on the atmosphere, starting from colomet and ending with the usual exploding barrels.

A new level for a first-person shooter

The main components of Painkiller gameplay are very simple and understandable for everyone:

• two sides of the conflict: you and the crowd of demons of Hell;
• they are fighting against you in numbers, and in response, the main character is ready to pour an endless stream of firepower on the enemy;
• there is not a single tricky puzzle that would distract from the main goal-the destruction of demons;
• there is always a hint arrow at the top of the screen for orientation on the terrain;
• a phenomenal soundtrack of heavy rock compositions that changes during the battle.

The plot component does not play a major role here, but simply exists as a given. But the story is quite coherent and pleasant to perceive. Modern ragdoll physics of the bodies of defeated enemies gives beauty and entertainment to everything that happens on the monitor.
