Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter

Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter is a re-release of the now iconic hardcore shooter about the adventures of Sam Stone. This part marked the beginning of the popular series and now it has a more modern picture. 

Review

Events take place in an alternate reality and revolve around an alien invasion of Earth. After humans found an ancient artifact in Egypt and used it, an alien attack led by the evil Mental began. As a result, humanity was on the brink of death. To save civilization, it was decided to send a tough fighter named Sam Stone in time travel, so he was able to stop the Mental and his horde. 

Gameplay

The developers of this version didn't touch the original storyline and the gameplay stayed without any cardinal changes. The only thing they worked on is the graphics. The textures of locations, weapons and enemies became more clear, and special effects became even brighter and more colorful. 

As for the gameplay gimmicks, it is worth highlighting:

1. An impressive variety of firearms - from machine guns and automatic weapons to laser guns and grenade launchers.
2. The ability to carry an unlimited supply of guns and an infinite amount of ammunition.
3. Weapons do not need to be reloaded.
4. First aid kits and extra armor can be found right on the locations.
5. Lots of unique enemies and bosses, some of which are quite funny.
