The Talos Principle is a puzzle game with a multifaceted and complex philosophical plot that raises acute social and burning topics. The storyline clearly shows that the game developers were inspired by the works of ancient Greek philosophers and biblical motifs. Plot

The player finds himself in a place reminiscent of Ancient Greece. However, along with dilapidated architectural masterpieces, amazing mechanisms coexist, among which there are well-known turrets borrowed from Portal. The terrain really looks very much like a test complex with many portals. Through these portals, you can get into different time periods of the development of the world. Suddenly, a voice in the sky says that his name is Elohim and invites the player to start exploring the world.

This same Elohim also declares that the player can explore the whole world, but in no case visit the high tower, justifying this by the fact that the destruction of the human race lies in the tower. Actually, the goal of the game is to get to the cherished tower and reveal the secrets hiding in it.

Separately, it should be said that the message of the in-game story is somewhat at odds with the gameplay. Therefore, we have to distract ourselves from solving problems in order to catch the pieces of history. But the plot is worth getting to know. It raises eternal questions about the meaning of life and the search for your place in it. The arguments on these topics are presented in an original, interesting way and allow you to look at your beliefs from a different angle.

Gameplay

As mentioned earlier, this game is a puzzle by genre. But in addition to solving logical problems, there is a need to avoid meetings with patrolling mechanisms that will kill you if you find yourself in their visibility zone. Even the very "avoidance" of the patrol is a puzzle in itself. For the first few minutes of gameplay, the player is engaged in de-energizing various technical devices with a deactivator and unlocking doors that hide puzzle pieces or another deactivator.

But the various parts of the mechanics gradually overlap with each other, due to which the game becomes non-trivial and more and more interesting. The game is an excellent tool for warming up logical thinking, providing a field for experimental tricks.
