Mafia III is a triquel action adventure about gangster groups in America. The developers considered the concept of mafia in a broader sense than the gangs of Italians, meaning all organized crime in general. Therefore, for the first time, the main character was not a native of the Pyrenees, but a mulatto who declared war on the Italian mafia in the late 60s.

Adopted son of the black mafia

His Dominican mother abandoned Lincoln Clay when he was two years old, and he never knew his father. The boy was brought up in a Catholic orphanage in New Bordeaux under the strict guidance of Father James. But in 1958, the shelter was closed, and the street became the main educator of the guy. A dark-skinned orphan got into the so-called black mafia and began to consider its head Sam Robinson his adoptive father. The Vietnam War, in which Lincoln participated as a volunteer, left a heavy imprint on his character, hardened in criminal showdowns.

Returning from the war, the hero goes to see the named father and learns that the black mafia has problems with the Haitian gang and the Italian mafia. Lincoln decides to help his friends: he kills the head of the Haitians and negotiates the payment of the debt with the boss of the Italians, Sal Marcano. But the latter breaks his word, kills the protagonist's friends, and leaves him to die. Lincoln Clay intends to take revenge on Marcano: first take away everything that is expensive, and then send it to the forefathers.

Strength in Unity

Alone, the hero cannot cope with the Italian mafia, because he needs to enlist the support of allies. Among them:

• Vito Scaletta – Marcano's former accomplice;
• Thomas Burke – Head of the Irish Bandits;
• Cassandra is the newly minted leader of a gang of Haitians.

Lincoln's partners constantly help him out in difficult situations (help him break away from police harassment, call a team of snipers). In return, the territories taken from Markano should be shared with them.

The busy life of the mafia
