The action takes place in the city of New York, which has become the center of an epidemic of an unknown virus caused by an alien invasion of the planet Earth.

Plot

The events on the island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean did not become public – the authorities hid all the facts of the alien invasion. Three years later, an epidemic of an unknown virus of alien origin begins to spread on the territory of New York. At the same time, an alien attack begins on a large metropolis.

The main character, nicknamed Alcatraz, as part of an elite squad, goes to New York to stabilize the situation. However, they are attacked by aliens and only the protagonist manages to survive with the help of the Prophet. He gives Alcatraz a nanosuit and kills himself, since he is already infected with this virus. The Prophet instructs the main character to do everything possible to stop the alien invasion in New York.

Gameplay

To a greater extent, Crysis 2 repeats the gameplay of the previous part, but there are a number of innovations, including:

• each mission can now be completed in several ways;
• the player can now use stationary weapons, for example, a machine gun, as well as tear it from its place and move around the location;
• the gameplay has become vertical – now you can occupy hills to gain a tactical advantage over enemies;
• a system of shelters has appeared, which allows you to take a more convenient position for shooting to hide from enemy fire.

The main weapon of the main character is a nanosuit, which has the following modes of operation:

• power – significantly increases the strength and speed of the main character;
• defense – in this mode, the damage received is significantly reduced, but the character moves a little slower;
• invisibility – allows you to become invisible to enemies for a certain time;
• nanovisor – allows you to see the environment in a thermal imager;
