Cossacks 1 is a computer video game in the genre of real–time strategy, which has received the status of a classic. Despite the fact that this project has been more than fifteen years old, it still remains relevant among gamers.

The events of the video game unfold in the XVII century and are shown on behalf of several states and nations at once.

A talented domestic studio called GSC Game World worked on the creation of the strategy.

Plot

The storyline is represented by four single - player campaigns:

1. England – it is necessary to establish its hegemony on the Caribbean islands, to defeat Spain and the Netherlands in the war for power, which also want to get the islands rich in resources.
2. Ukraine – to take control of the state of Cossacks and start a war for independence against Poland, Tatars, Moscow and other states that oppress Ukraine.
3. France – to help the great empire win the Thirty Years' War in Western Europe.
4. Russia – to help the Romanov monarchy finally establish itself and defeat enemies from the West and the Crimean Tatars.

Gameplay

The battles of Cossacks 1 take place in real time. The player must choose one of the nations, each of which has its own set of unique units and buildings.

The main task of the user is the extraction of resources, the creation of an army and the destruction of the enemy base. Resources are divided into food, gold, stone, iron, wood and coal. They are necessary for the maintenance of the army and the construction of buildings.

In addition to industrial buildings, there are also military ones – troops of various types are created in them: arrows, guns, infantry, cavalry. To protect against the enemy, you can also build defensive structures, such as towers and walls.
