Painkiller (2004) PC

Painkiller is a legendary first–person shooter developed by People Can Fly and published by DreamCatcher Interactive in 2004. The game features the Havok 2.0 physics engine

Plot

The whole story revolves around a young man named Daniel Garner, who married a girl Catherine. At the beginning of the story, Daniel takes his wife on a holiday. They drive through the pouring rain on the bridge. Daniel, turning to his wife, did not see the truck coming towards them due to poor visibility. Everyone died in this accident, including the main character and his wife.

While Catherine is trying to get to Heaven and live in harmony, Daniel finds himself trapped in Purgatory. The angel tells him to go further, he must help them kill the four Lucifer generals. Killing these generals will prevent a war between Heaven and Hell. Lucifer was secretly organizing a massive army that could crush all the light by capturing Purgatory. The main character makes a decision and agrees to this condition. As the forces of Hell take over and corrupt parts of Purgatory, Daniel goes through random phases of history that differ significantly from ancient times to the modern era.

Gameplay

Painkiller is similar to games like:

The biggest emphasis is killing a large number of monsters. The plot is divided into five chapters, each of them is about five levels. The player's goal is to go through each LVL, from beginning to end, killing hundreds of evil spirits. One of the more important aspects of the game is its diversity. Each level provides a new place with different themes and graphic styles.
