Battlestations: Pacific takes us into the midst of the fighting of World War II. The developers focus the player's main attention on the Pacific front – an epic confrontation between the United States and imperial Japan. All the main events take place in the interval between the two main battles of these opponents – the attack on the American military base Pearl Harbor, from which the conflict actually began, and the battle for Okinawa, which marked the inexorable collapse of the Japanese army.

The player can fight for both the USA and Japan. These storylines are not similar to each other – the Japanese campaign begins in December 1941, includes the Battle of Midway and ends with the intervention in the Hawaiian Islands.
