XCOM: Enemy Unknown is an RPG game that combines both strategic and tactical components. Enemy Unknown is a 1993 reissue of X-COM: UFO Defense.

The main plot

The events in the game practically do not differ from the original version. The Earth is being attacked by aliens. Your main character is the commander of an international organization that is in great secrecy, and called XCOM. At the disposal of this company are:

• modern secret weapons;
• the latest advanced technology;
• various scientific developments from all over the world.

XCOM employs both scientists and military personnel from different departments. Thanks to a common effort, you must defeat alien enemies whose development is several times higher than all terrestrial technologies.

Gameplay

In the 2012 version, just like in the original, the game is divided into two categories:

• tactical operations;
• global strategy.

Tactical operations mode

In this mode, you will be able to conduct turn-based battles. During the battles you will be able to observe:

• the line of sight of opponents;
• fog of war;
• building under attack;
• the reaction of soldiers to the appearance of enemies.

All battles take place on a very small territory and in small teams of 4-6 soldiers. This mode is very different from the usual UFO Defense. Previously, your fighters could only do one action at a time.

Now the battle tactics have become more diverse. Because controlled characters can perform two actions at once. For example:

• throw a grenade;
• take a shot;
• move to another cell;
• use a first aid kit to restore health;
• and much more.

Missions will take place on 64 maps. They may include the following tasks:

• escort or rescue of the population;
• cleaning up the alien landing area;
• defusing a planted bomb;
• capture of the alien leader;
• take over the enemy base;
• stealing valuable cargo from aliens.

Each player will be able to find something interesting for themselves and fully immerse themselves in tactical battles.

Strategy Mode

You will have a whole base at your disposal, which will need to be managed and gradually developed. At the very beginning, you have to choose a location. Depending on this, you will have various advantages:

• reducing the cost of building construction;
• additional receipt of money;
• reducing the cost of maintaining workshops and various laboratories;
• various methods of studying aliens;
• reducing the cost of improving various buildings;
• cheaper production of interceptors;
• and much more.

The very first skill you will get at the beginning of the game. The rest appear as the map of the continent opens. You need to choose which continent you
