El Paso, Elsewhere
El Paso, Elsewhere is a tantalising third-person indie shooter that is very much reminiscent of Max Payne in its gameplay, as the developers were clearly inspired by the iconic jumping and shooting combat trick in slow motion.
Review
The protagonist is a regular tough guy who is completely unafraid of violence and is excellent with firearms. One day he finds himself in the Texas settlement of El Passo - in a big old hotel, where something inexplicable is happening. Trying to understand the reasons for what is happening, the protagonist goes to the catacombs under the hotel and meets there a real evil - demons and other creatures of darkness. The only chance to get rid of them is to destroy every last one of them, using an impressive arsenal of firearms.
Gameplay
The key gameplay features of El Paso, Elsewhere are:
- Very low system requirements - ideal for owners of weak computers.
- The gamer can use a large number of pistols, shotguns and automatic rifles.
- Protagonist is able to make jumps, rolls and masterfully dodge enemy attacks.
- By completing a special school, you can make special jumps, during which time slows down, and the character can quickly eliminate several enemies at once without getting attacked in return.
- The graphics in the game are low-polygonal - because of this the detailing is not at the highest level, but it adds a certain noir feel.
