In the distant future, humanity has reached such a level of scientific and technological progress that they now have every opportunity to colonize other planets. The first of these was the red planet Mars. 

Within a few decades, the colonists managed to erect a large number of bases on the surface. Then huge voids were discovered in the subsurface, and scientists began digging huge tunnels deep inside to find out what was there.

It turns out that some form of life exists in the subsurface, and it infects the entire population of Mars. As a result, people turn into mutants and behave like aggressive predators. Only the protagonist manages to survive the epidemic and his only chance to fly away is to get to an escape pod.
