The gameplay of Escape the Backrooms is tied to the cooperative mode, and therefore as such a strong plot in a horror game is not. The action will unfold in a reality that existed in parallel from the real world. Scientists with the help of their monstrous experiments were able to open the portal and now research.

This other world is by no means safe - it is inhabited by strange entities that seek to kill any uninvited guest. Also the environment is constantly changing and all his kind exacerbate the situation.

Gameplay
