As part of the passage, the gamer acts as the political leader of his state and must lead him through this most difficult period in human history. There are only 4 states to choose from, which were the leading forces at the time, namely Germany, Russia and France and Great Britain.

The task is to simultaneously manage an entire country and lead troops on the battlefield, making competent tactical decisions.
