Events unfold in Gaul, which is almost completely occupied by Roman legions led by Julius Caesar himself. But there is still one village free, and it is inhabited by brave Gauls. The secret of their valiant and successful fight against such a numerous enemy lies in the use of a magic potion that gives the Gauls superpowers.

Asterix and Obelix receive a message in which the daughter of one of the chiefs of the also still free country of Ibernia asks the protagonists for help. They must find a golden ram, which belongs to their tribe. He is now in the clutches of the Romans. Heroes go on another dangerous journey, taking with them a faithful dog and the wise Druid.
