Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a horror video game with elements of a survival simulator with a first–person view with a complex gameplay that will appeal only to true horror fans.

Plot

The main character becomes a man named Daniel. He suddenly wakes up in a huge castle and finds next to him a note left by himself a few hours earlier. It turns out that this morning the protagonist drank a special elixir that erased his memory, which was necessary in order to get rid of severe mental trauma.

In addition, the note says that Daniel needs to get to the basement of the castle and kill a certain Alexander, who intends to conduct an ancient ritual. Along the way, the protagonist is obliged to collect notes that reveal the details of the storyline. He will also meet monsters and paranormal creatures that will attack the hero at the first opportunity.

Gameplay

Among the main gameplay features of the horror Amnesia: The Dark Descent needs to be noted:

1. The artificial intelligence of opponents is quite responsive for beginners – enemies do not act with all their might if the AI sees how the player makes a lot of mistakes and gives him a head start.
2. The need to thoroughly explore each location and look for key items that will help solve puzzles and advance further.
3. All monsters are immortal and kill the protagonist with a few blows, and therefore the latter is obliged not to engage them in battle, but to run.
4. There is an opportunity to lock the doors – the monsters cannot open them, but will spend time trying to break through them.
5. Some objects from the environment can be picked up and thrown at enemies, which will slow them down for a while.
