Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age (2017) on PC

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is a console video game in the RPG genre, which is the twelfth numbered game in the famous Final Fantasy series of the same name. The original Final Fantasy XII was released in the distant 2006 exclusively for PS2 consoles - it was very popular and that's why after more than ten years the developers decided to release the re-release, which received the console The Zodiac Age. Nominally the original RPG remained the same except for much better graphics and slightly changed soundtrack.

A Japanese team called Square Enix worked on the project.

The plot

Just like the previous two parts of the series, Final Fantasy XII tells about the events that are not related to the main franchise storyline. Along with new characters, players will have to travel to the fictional land of Dalmaska.

Several decades ago, the powerful state of Arcadia, using its military advantage, invades Dalmaska and seizes the once independent state during bloody battles.

The narrative is told on behalf of a young thief named Vaan, who sneaks into the royal palace of Dalmasca, where he finds Princess Ashe. Not long ago, she was considered dead, but her life means only one thing - she is the last legitimate heir to the throne, which means there is still hope for Dalmascus to regain its independence.

Gameplay

Final Fantasy XII made quite a serious revolution in the series - the game world became almost entirely solid and open (it is divided into locations, between which you can freely move). 

Among the key gameplay features of the RPG are:

• the player can control three characters in travel mode, while in cities - only one main character;
• the ability to travel around the big world on foot, as well as with the help of special vehicles;
• battles now take place in real time with the possibility to pause the game to give commands to the heroes;
• there is a gambit system - these are special commands that can be set yourself (when special conditions are reached, the characters begin to perform the set action);
• a system of character progression.
