Operation Flashpoint: Red River is a computer video game in the genre of tactical shooter with a third–person view, which takes place during a fictional conflict on the territory of Tajikistan.

A British company called Codemasters worked on the creation of the video game.

Plot

In the 2010s, the situation in Tajikistan began to get very heated, which eventually led to a large-scale civil war. The US government has sent marines to the territory of the country in order to resolve the increasingly growing conflict.

However, China did not evaluate such actions too positively. The PRC itself is eager to establish influence in Tajikistan, and therefore it is transferring its armies there.

Thus, this small country in Asia is becoming a new hot spot that takes the lives of soldiers and civilians every day.

Gameplay

Codemasters studio planned to make a realistic, but at the same time quite simple tactical shooter, and they almost succeeded – the project still has a few disadvantages. Among the key features of the gameplay are the following:

• all weapons have real TTX;
• the ability to choose a character class – each of them carries a certain stock of weapons and skills that are not available to others;
• realistic damage mechanics;
• the need for thoughtful tactical interaction between the team is the only way to survive and win;
• the presence of not only a single-player campaign, but also a multiplayer mode, as well as the possibility of cooperative passage.
