Half-Life 2: Episode Two (2007) PC

Half-Life 2: Episode Two is currently the last part of the adventures of Freeman and Alix. The action takes place by and large in an open area in the vicinity of the destroyed City 17.

The whole world is in our hands again

Dr. Freeman, whose image is associated with a tire iron or a gravity gun, needs to get to the White Forest in the next few hours to deliver the data stolen by Alix about the enemy. If this is not done, the stronghold of resistance will have nothing to oppose the invaders, what will remain of the planet will be what remains of City 17.

From metal and concrete to nature

The hero has finally left the city labyrinths, now he will walk in the open area. And he will be able to admire the trees, and stare at the psychedelic poisoned slush that resembles water, and ride on an improvised buggy along the sand, from where ants emerge.

Innovations

An SUV of a special design is used as the transport on which the heroes go to the shelter. It is constantly overgrown with modifiers. Bombs appeared from weapons to destroy striders, which are thrown into the robots' body by means of a gravity cannon.

From the characters we will meet:

• sand ants – workers, guards – spit acid;
• soldiers with shotguns;
• hunters – armored robots on two legs – kicks, knocks down with a run, shoots exploding bolts;
• headcrabs are legless zombies.

Most of all gamers are pleased with the updated physics engine. Physics and animation are calculated in real time, there is no pattern in the process of destroying objects. The explosion of a bridge or buildings looks cinematic.

Thanks to the 3rd version of shaders, a particle system has been introduced, which makes the effects associated with liquid, smoke, fire and small particles (sand) more spectacular. The new open area rendering algorithm reduced the load on computing facilities and allowed creating a holistic huge world w
