Far Cry 2 (2008) PC

The game originated as a project where the developers wanted to show the capabilities of the engine by creating a jungle hitherto unseen on the monitor screen, but turned into a full-scale shooter.

Hollywood plot

The gameplay resembles GTA, transferred to the African savanna, or rather to an island with an area of about 50 ^m2. The main character went to the "black continent" to destroy the leader of the Jackal gang, but becomes infected with malaria and almost dies. Moreover, the one who needs to be killed helped him to survive. He gave the dying man a gun and left the unconscious stranger to his fate. And all this during the Civil War.

The player gets bogged down in a routine where he constantly fights with local gangs and drug dealers, performs small template tasks that bring him little closer to the goal.

Landscapes

The open world surrounded by rocks is integral. There are three small towns on the map, separated from each other by a couple of miles. Between them there is something worth playing for in Far Cry 2 – nature:

• realistic trees of a cloudy color;
• twisting in the wind and burning in the fire grass;
• hot sands, where it's hard to drive by car;
• soft beautiful waterfalls;
• herds of wild animals, including predators and elephants.

Equipment

Diamonds scattered throughout the location are used as money. They are spent on weapon modifiers and ammunition, although the enemies also have plenty of ammunition. All roads are blocked by roadblocks, whose guards respawn every night. Travel between cities, huts and merchants is carried out by car.

The player is free to carry one sample of each of the three categories of weapons, which eventually jams and fails, as well as overheats.

Pattern

The monotony of tasks and the lack of differences between one's own and another's are the weaknesses of the project. Almost all tasks are tied to traveling by car to the opposite part of the location, where we clear a couple of roadblocks along the way, kill the dealer or blow up/incinerate something and return for a reward. Whichever side you fight for, the player will be accepted in any camp.
