Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (2008) PC

The third tactical shooter in the series about the Second World War. The focus is on the operation of the Allied forces in Holland in the autumn of 1944. Compared to the previous two games, Hell's Highway had a more complicated gameplay, and for the level design, critics called it the most beautiful shooter about WW2 (for 2008).

Brothers in arms among Dutch landscapes

1944. A division of American paratroopers is fighting the Nazis in Europe, defending the road No. 69 to Eindhoven. The Germans do not stand on ceremony and often pour fire on the ill-fated highway, for which it was nicknamed "infernal".

Staff Sergeant Matthew Baker becomes the protagonist of Brothers in Arms for the third time in a row. During the events in Holland, he was 23 years old, and behind him was a promotion after the Normandy events, the loss of many comrades there and post-traumatic syndrome. The disturbed psyche draws images of dead colleagues, and at some moments Baker is unable to distinguish hallucinations from reality. But the war continues, and the hero needs to fulfill the duties of a commander.

The authors of the plot tried to make each character interesting and came up with short biographies for several dozen soldiers commanded by the protagonist. Someone is very superstitious, someone is jealous of a friend after his promotion, and 17-year-old Frankie falls in love with a Dutch girl at first sight.

Gameplay Features

• command of several detachments with a separate specialization: attack, fire support, etc;
• a system of destructible shelters. When hit by weapons, wooden fences collapse, fortifications from bags filled with sand, parts of cars fly off. However, the supposedly destructible structure may not be such;
