The events take place in a dystopian sci-fi setting of a very distant future. In it, humanity exists as part of a huge intergalactic empire, which is ruled by a powerful God-Emperor.

As part of the story campaign, fans will be transported to the very fringes of the Imperium - to a sector called the Kronus Expanse. It is wild and untamed and is constantly under attack by civilisations unfriendly to mankind. Gamers play the role of a free warrior who has the right to choose the path of development. He can remain loyal to the Emperor or join the enemies of humans and try to take over the sector from the Empire. The story is non-linear and offers many endings.
