The events of Winter Ember take place in an alternate universe - in the Victorian era, where the man without a face has to avenge the death of his family.

The main action will unfold in a fictional Victorian city called Anargal, which is forever shrouded in snow and cold because of the endless winter. In this new world, everything is ruled by religious cults with unlimited power.

Protagonist Arthur's family was once one of the most influential in the city, but for reasons unknown to the character, it was brutally destroyed and a monstrous massacre and subsequent fire ensued. The boy sustained severe injuries that caused him to lose his face. However, Arthur survived and was sent to hard labor for a long eight years, after which he managed to escape. The hero returns to Anargal to find the killers of his loved ones and kill them in an act of revenge. 

Gameplay

Among the key gameplay features of the dystopian adventure Winter Ember is worth highlighting:

1. The overhead view is presented as in isometric RPGs.
2. Perfectly recreated dystopian atmosphere in Victorian style.
3. There are several styles of passing - from the quiet stealth to direct confrontation with the enemy.
4. The gamer must calculate each action, for example, killing the guardian will raise the alarm in a short time, and his stun can lead to a quick awakening of the enemy, who then captures the protagonist.
5. The protagonist's arsenal includes ranged weapons, including a bow with 30 types of arrows, as well as edged weapons like a knife for an instant kill from behind.
6. The ability to use parkour mechanics to overcome any physical obstacle.
