Events of the video game unfold 25 years after the finale of the ninth part. Many of the characters have already acquired families, for example, Luke Cage and Sonya Blade have a daughter Casey, and Kun Lao has a nephew Kun Jin and so on.

Meanwhile, in the Netherworld, significant changes have also taken place. Shao Kahn's place was taken by the evil and very powerful necromancer Shinnok. He has set his sights on becoming ruler of the Earth Kingdom and the Outer World. The Old Guard is forced to enlist the help of their children to fight together and repel a new invasion of demons from another world. 

Gameplay

Among the main gameplay features of fighting game Mortal Kombat X should be noted:
