Rome: Total War: Barbarian Invasion (2006) PC
Rome: Total War: Barbarian Invasion is the official DLC for the original Rome: Total War, which tells about the events of the IV–V centuries, when the Roman Empire declined and was destroyed by hordes of barbarians.
A well-known British studio called Creative Assembly worked on the creation of the add-on.
Plot
The events of the game plunge us into the period of the Great Migration of peoples, which led to the collapse of one of the most powerful powers of antiquity – the Roman Empire.
You can side with one of the many barbarian factions and destroy the already weakened Roman civilization. And if you really want difficulties, stand up for the defense of the great city and stop the invasion of enemies who will attack from all sides.
Gameplay
Rome: Total War: Barbarian Invasion boasts a large number of innovations and gameplay changes, which in general make the passage for Rome much more difficult. Among the main innovations, it is important to note the following:
- the mechanics of night battles have appeared – barbarians especially like to arrange them;
- units can now swim across shallow rivers during combat;
- nomadic factions that are not able to build cities have been added;
- the Western Roman Empire faction was significantly weakened, and therefore the passage for it is extremely difficult – only the geniuses of strategy will be able to save the state;
- the faction perishes only in case of the death of the last member of the ruling dynasty – with the loss of the last city, it only becomes nomadic;
- Three religions appeared: paganism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism.
